An Assessment of People's Awareness of The Health Risk Posed By Pesticides In Oenotourism Events
Wine production and vineyard work are seasonal activities as there is a period that does not require interventions, and oenotourism seems to fulfil this gap. Given that grapevines are tied to this area of activity, it is of paramount importance to assess customer and worker awareness of the health risks of pesticide use. In order to improve the awareness of workers/customers, this work proposes a workable problem-solving methodology that allows the assessment of the level of consciousness in terms of an estimate of the entropic state of the universe of discourse, i.e. a predictive assessment of the level of awareness. The analysis and development of such a model is based on a series of Logic Programming formalisms for Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, which are consistent with an Artificial Neural Networks approach to computing. The process of data collection was the request for the questionnaire and involved 173 participants. The proposed system has an accura-cy of about 90% and enables the diagnosis of risk awareness and fragilities. This encourages future improvements to increase the population’s awareness about health risks from pesticides and other chemicals.
