Ue Power Consumption Comparison Over Nsa and Sa Deployments of 5g
This paper analyses the current consumption of a mobile device during data transfers using 5G. Non-Standalone (NSA) and Standalone (SA) deployments are compared to understand in which scenario the user equipment (UE) consumes more energy. Measurement results show that in the considered NSA scenario, the UE consumes 200 mA more than in SA. Furthermore, a throughput comparison shows that a 1 GB transfer in NSA takes 5 seconds less than SA. This result reveals the existence of a current-throughput relation, in which SA saves the current consumption at the cost of throughput loss.
